Indacloud sells its flower smalls as premium buds at half the price, and its own numbers back that up: $3.18 per gram for smalls against $6.29 for its full-size ounce.

Next to other shops, it's a different story. That smalls ounce costs about two and a half times one of our $34.99 ounces.

The drawback: the lab report file on its Red Velvet smalls listing carries an October 2025 date in its name, so check that the report matches the batch you're buying.

• Arete pulls its smalls from its Luxury and Budget collections and sells them only in 14 gram bags. Its Budget AA+ bags, at $49.98 and $54.98, save $14 to $19 against a full-size half ounce in the same grade, such as Jack Herer at $68.98.

The drawback: two Budget AA smalls bags make an ounce for $89.96, more than two and a half times the price of one of our $34.99 smalls ounces.

WHAT THCA SMALL BUDS SELLS

A fair THCA Small Buds review starts with the menu, because the store sells far more than smalls. This is what was on the shelf on October 2, 2026:

• Smalls ounces: four strains in stock at $25.00 to $35.99, regular $30.99 to $37.99, sold as "AA quality" with a 28% to 34% THCA range for the product
• Mediums: mid-size buds sold as strain options marked "New Mediums," such as an illemonati ounce at $37.99
• Indoor smalls: quarter, half and full pounds from a "climate controlled commercial indoor facility," starting at $179.99 a quarter pound
• Bulk smalls: quarter pounds from $90, half pounds from $160 and pounds from $310, plus full-size flower in the same weights
• Clearance: a clearance collection that included summer 2026 harvests
• Everything else: private reserve flower, snowballs and moonrocks, hash, live rosin vapes and gummies, pre-rolls, trim, THC drinks and CBD flower

Orders also come with a free THC drink while supplies last. Its shipping policy says most orders leave the day after they're placed and that checkout fees pass straight to the carrier, with no free shipping threshold listed.

That policy lists 11 states it won't ship to: Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah and Vermont. Another notice on its site adds Alaska, so check eligibility at checkout if you live there. Its lab results come as one downloadable folder, separate from each strain listing.

WHAT COUNTS AS A SMALL BUD, AND WHAT DOESN'T

Smalls are whole buds that finished small, mostly lower on the plant, and got sorted out of the harvest by size. Popcorn buds is another name for the same cut. Mediums sit one size up, and trim is a different product altogether.

The THCA figure comes from the batch lab test, whatever size the buds are. On October 2, our Potty Mouth smalls ounce cost $34.99 and its full-size Essential ounce $39.99, and both share one lab result of 26.179% THCA and 0.2139% Delta-9 THC.

Budget bags can still vary inside. THCA Small Buds says its budget products may show "smaller buds, mixed bud sizes, increased trim or sugar leaf presence," plus variation in moisture and bag appeal.

It's an honest warning, and a good reason to check which option you're adding to the cart.

PRICE PER GRAM ON A SMALLS OUNCE

Per gram cost is the cleanest way to set a 14 gram bag next to an ounce or a quarter pound. We took each shop's October 2, 2026 price and split it across the labeled weight, the same method we used to rank THCA brands, then added each shop's free shipping line.

Smalls aren't automatically the cheapest flower once grow type and tier change. THCA Small Buds' indoor smalls ran $1.61 to $1.79 per gram, well over its budget ounce, while Lucky Elk's indoor smalls were the most expensive bag we priced.

WHY SOME SMALLS ARRIVE DRY, AND HOW WE PREVENT IT

Small buds have more surface for their weight, so they can lose moisture faster than big buds when they sit in a warehouse or get packed in a dry room. Bags handled that way tend to show up brittle and turn to powder in the grinder.

Here's how we handle it at LIT Farms:

• Humidity at bagging: our packing room is air-conditioned and kept between 65% and 72% humidity while we fill each bag.
• Sealed in transit: the bag holds that humidity through roughly a week on the way to your door.
• Fast turnover: our whole inventory turns over about every five days, so smalls don't sit on a shelf waiting for an order.

The result surprises some first-time buyers. Our smalls land soft and a little sticky, and some customers have posted about jarring them for days because they assumed the buds needed more time.

They don't. Our smalls are ready to smoke when they arrive, and they keep well in the sealed bag or an airtight glass jar while you smoke through it.

FIVE CHECKS WHEN YOUR SMALLS BAG ARRIVES

Run these on a clean tray the day the bag lands, before you grind anything. It takes a few minutes and tells you whether the bag matches the listing.

1. Density. Squeeze a bud gently. Smalls should still hold the structure of an intact flower. If the bag is mostly loose leaf, crumbs or detached sugar leaf instead of formed buds, you're getting closer to trim or shake.
2. Moisture. Bend a short stem. It should flex a little, then snap, and a stem that breaks with no give means the flower is overdried. Gray, fuzzy patches mean the bag goes back to the shop. NC State Extension's gray mold guide notes the disease can damage hemp even after harvest.
3. Smell. Compare the smell with the flavor notes on the listing. A flat, grassy or barely there smell can mean the flower lost much of its aroma before it reached you. A 2024 storage study found that cannabis flower's volatile profile changed after six months under every storage condition tested, with a glass bottle holding the original aroma profile better than an open tray or a plastic box.
4. Stem weight. Pull out any long stems. A few short ones come with any bag, but a pile of thick stems is weight you paid for and can't smoke. THCA King flags this up front, tagging one greenhouse option with "some stems".
5. Scale weight. Weigh the flower in a zeroed bowl on a scale that reads to a tenth of a gram. An ounce bag should land at 28 grams or a hair over. Weigh it the day it arrives, since flower loses some water weight once the bag is open.

If a bag fails any of these, send the shop a photo the same day.
